About the app

The Red Sea International Film Festival, an annual event showcasing global cinematic talent, is dedicated to celebrating the rich cultural landscape of the Red Sea region.

The festival's website provides detailed information about the films, events, and program schedules, but the organizers sought to enhance the festival experience for their audience and guests by creating a mobile app.

The goal of this project was to offer an alternative to the website by providing a more seamless, user-friendly interface that would allow users to easily access information on films, events, programs, and the latest festival news.

On top of that, the app would allow users to purchase tickets directly, enhancing the convenience and accessibility of the event. The app was designed to be a comprehensive tool for festival-goers, making it easier to stay up-to-date with festival activities.

Challenges

Before the mobile app, festival attendees were limited to accessing information through the website or physical ticketing points. This traditional model posed challenges in providing real-time updates and a convenient, mobile-friendly way for attendees to engage with the festival.

The Red Sea Film Festival team sought to address these challenges with the app by improving the user experience, offering a more dynamic platform for users to interact with the festival, and expanding marketing capabilities.

One of the key expectations was to enable push notifications for timely announcements and updates. The team also wanted to create an easily accessible, intuitive interface to improve public engagement.

The biggest challenge during development was the tight timeline. The app had to be developed and launched in under two months.

Thanks to strong collaboration between our development team and the partner’s team, we were able to meet the deadline and deliver the project successfully, ensuring that the festival could offer an enhanced experience for its attendees right on time.

The mobile app was launched globally, and its success was evident from the very beginning. In the first 10 days after its launch, the app achieved over 10,000 downloads.

The app is used by festival guests and the general public from all over the world, with users coming from various countries to stay updated on the festival’s events and buy tickets.

Technologically, the app was built using Flutter, providing a fast and responsive cross-platform experience. The design was crafted using Figma, ensuring a user-friendly interface that matched the festival’s brand. Additionally, Firebase was employed for real-time features and notifications, ensuring that users received up-to-date information directly through the app.

The Red Sea Film Festival mobile app has successfully transformed the way audiences interact with the event, offering convenience, real-time updates, and a much-improved festival experience.
