ClassLink Audit Center is a web-based platform designed to simplify and streamline the evaluation process for education leaders. It tackles the common pain points associated with traditional evaluations, such as:

• Storing sensitive data;

• Difficulty finding and organizing necessary files;

• Inability to effectively track feedback;

• Time-consuming data gathering for external evaluators;

• Finding qualified evaluators to gain valuable external insights.

Challenges

ClassLink’s initial goal for the Audit Center was to assist schools with internal audits, particularly cybersecurity assessments.

However, during the development process, valuable user feedback revealed a broader need:

• Higher relevance: User feedback highlighted a wider applicability for the tool beyond internal audits. Educators expressed a strong desire for functionalities like creating custom rubrics and checklists, utilizing pre-built templates, and tracking progress over time.

• Data security concerns: The need for a secure platform to store sensitive data and manage access levels for educators and evaluators became crucial.

Based on user feedback, the requirements expanded, therefore an agile approach and close communication were essential for the final success of the product.

Solution

After the pivotal moment, by being in touch with the educators and prioritizing functionalities considered essential by them, our team successfully designed and also integrated some of the following features:

• Custom rubric and checklist creation;

• Access to pre-built templates;

• Progress tracking capabilities;

• Secure data storage with granular access control.

In the development process, the backend of the ClassLink Audit Center is built on Node.js using the Express framework and the frontend is built with Angular and NX, a framework for building Angular applications. Sequelize acted as an object-relational mapper (ORM) for interacting with the MySQL database, while user authentication was handled by Passport.js and AWS provided cloud infrastructure for hosting the application. As for design, we used Figma for creating the user interface.

The platform now offers a comprehensive solution for education leaders across the globe by incorporating:

• Simplified evaluation process: Streamlines data collection, organization, and analysis;

• Increased efficiency: Saves time and resources through streamlined workflows;

• Data-driven decision making: Tracks progress over time for informed decision-making;

• Improved data security: Securely stores sensitive data on a secure platform that can be accessed from anywhere in the world, ensuring information remains confidential and access is controlled based on user roles;

• Enhanced collaboration: Connects educators with a network of qualified reviewers, making it easier to find experienced evaluators for specialized assessments.

The final version of ClassLink Audit Center is a great example of the power of user-centric development. By actively listening to feedback and adapting the product, we helped ClassLink address a broader need within the education sector.

This resulted in a robust platform that simplifies the evaluation process, facilitates collaboration, and empowers education leaders to make informed decisions for a brighter future in education.

Note: Although the product is not currently available as a mobile app, the web application is optimized for mobile devices.
